About Our Lady of Guadalupe
Appeared to Juan Diego in 1531 in Mexico. Her image miraculously appeared on his tilma and remains incorrupt today.
Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to Juan Diego, an indigenous man, on December 9-12, 1531, on Tepeyac Hill near Mexico City. She asked him to build a church on the site and left her miraculous image on his tilma (cloak) as proof for the bishop.
The image on the tilma has been studied extensively and shows properties that cannot be explained by natural means. The fabric has remained incorrupt for nearly 500 years, and the image appears to have no paint or dye.
Feast Day: December 12
Patron of: Mexico, the Americas, unborn children
